ECOLABEN is the first specialized Chilean laboratory to carry out biodegradation and compostability tests of plastic materials. The tests are based on EN 13432, which includes analyses of:
a) biodegradation under composting conditions.
b) disintegration under standard conditions.
c) ecotoxicity in upper plants of the compost produced.
These analyses allow to determine whether a plastic material is actually compostable, which can be retrieved organically through the composting process.
